KINGSTON, Jamaica:
The Jamaica Tallawahs defeated the Barbados Tridents by 19 runs in their Limacol Caribbean Premier League clash at Sabina Park today.

The Tallawahs, after making 147 for eight off 20 overs, returned to restrict Barbados to 128 for six off their allotment.

Man of the match, fast bowler, Jerome Taylor with an excellent spell of two for 11 off four overs led the way for the Tallawahs with all-rounder David Bernard Jr, two for 20 off four, being the next best.

For the Tridents, Pakistani Shoab Malik, tried his best, however his impressive unbeaten knock of 81 off 43 balls was all in vain.

Malik slammed six sixes and nine fours.

Earlier, the Tallawahs were led to their total thanks to Englishman Owais Shah, who made an innings high 42, captain Chris Gayle, 39, and Chadwick Walton, 25.

This was against pacers Ravi Rampaul and Rayad Emrit, who claimed four for 18, and three for 35.

"I'm very, very happy. It's been fantastic," said captain Chris Gayle adding that he is looking forward to the next matches in St Kitts.

The result moves the Tallawahs to 12 points while maintaining second position in the standings behind the Red Steel, also on 12 points, but with a higher net run rate.
