Viber should be up and running despite the decision by telecommunications provider Digicel and LIME to block free voice over Internet protocol (VoIP) services, according to Talmon Marco, CEO and founder of Viber Media.
The two telcoms both blocked Viber – a popular service which allows users to make free calls on the internet.
But Marco is unperturbed and said that the Viber system can bypass the blockage, although it may take some time.
“The Viber system automatically notices such blocks and bypasses them (slowly), said Marco.
“Users should make sure they have the latest Viber,” he said.
“The Viber system should finish bypassing this block in the next few hours,” he said in a tweeted response earlier today.
“ Users may want to rethink their choice of carrier,” Marco said.
