Coach of Meadows, Michael Small, is confident that his team will make it to the semi-finals following its 3-0 win over relegation-bound Rod-wood in a St Catherine Football Association Major League match at the Waterford High School playing field on Saturday.

Meadows lie second in Zone Two, on 22 points, and need only a draw against leaders Flamingo (31) who have already qualified. Both will meet at Ellerslie Pen on Thursday.

Meadows' nearest rival, Black Lions, are on 19 points. However, Lions have what may be considered an easy game against Rodwood, which have not won a game all season and have just five points, all from stalemates.

Superior goal difference

"We have our destiny in our hands. We can lose our final game (against Flamingo) and still qualify for the semi-final because we have a superior goal difference (plus-six) over Black Lions," Small pointed out.

"They need to score a lot of goals against Rodwood to put pressure on us. But we will take a positive approach towards our final game as we want to have a win under our belt going into the semi-finals," Small said.

He believes his team played poorly on Saturday, even though they netted three goals.

The goals were scored by Duran Dilworth (16th), substitute Craig Simpson (79th) and Alton Brown (85th).

The scoreline should have been wider but Meadows' attackers had an off day.

In other games, Cool Sports edged Albion 2-1, while the Dela Vega-Arlington game was rained out.
