The Prime Minister, Bruce Golding has indicated that the police could be given more power as part of measures to deal with the crime problem. He was speaking at the Diaspora Conference in downtown Kingston, today. According to Mr. Golding the Government has to take all the necessary steps to deal with the issue of crime. (Click here to listen audio clips) Mr. Golding added that adequate systems are also being considered to ensure that the police do not abuse their power. In the meantime the police will to continue to focus on criminal hot spots, and efforts are underway for more collaborative social interventions. More Articles
