Amy Winehouse - File

Island Records has rejected Amy Winehouse's new album, according to Britain's The Sun newspaper.

The bigwigs at the company were not taken with the reggae-type songs she wrote and recorded during her self-imposed 'exile' on the Caribbean island of St Lucia.

"Amy was very productive during her stay in St Lucia, but the majority of songs just aren't hitting the mark," The Sun quoted a source as saying.

Fans of the controversial British singer have been anticipating her third album. Her previous studio effort, 2006's Back To Black, sold over six million copies and won five Grammy Awards.

In January, rumour was rife that Winehouse would be coming to Jamaica to record a reggae set.
