Roadside phalluses

The Editor, Sir:
While we congratulate the broadcasting commission and the many others who have voiced their opinion to ban lewd music and vulgar bodily display in dancehalls and on television, we must go one step further and ask the relevant authority to remove all the roadside 'penis' sculptors that are an embarrassment to all decent citizens, children and visitors driving along Fern Gully and the sea coasts around the island.
We seem to be obsessed with sex and phallic symbols rather than good morals. One cannot help but notice these pieces of sculptors because of the excessive sizes they carry, which should not be allowed on display.
We are a creative people and there are so many beautiful pieces of craftwork to 'show off' instead of reducing our country to sex and violence.
Please, Jamaica, let's bring back our country to the beauty and good culture that it used to be.
I am, etc.,
