Triple Crown winner ALSAFRA should capture the top award by unanimous acclaim at this evening's None Such/Horse of the Year awards dinner at the Hilton Hotel, New Kingston, starting at 7:00.

In addition, ALSAFRA should cap awards such as champion three-year-old and champion local-bred horse, as well as a number of other sectional awards in the three-year-old category, including champion middle-distance performer and champion stayer.

A chestnut filly by Legal Process out of Tee Gee Vee, ALSAFRA, as a three-year-old in 2008, won six races (including the triple crown and the Oaks) to emerge the season's leading stakes winner with just over $9 million.

Highlight

One of the highlights of the dinner will be the presentation of the coveted None Such award to a person or organisation whose lifetime endeavours in the field of thoroughbred racing have embodied excellence, innovation and leadership.

According to Caymanas Track Limited, this year marks the 50th anniversary of racing at Caymanas Park and the theme will be reflected in this and other major activities throughout its yearlong celebration.

Among those to be honoured are returning champion jockey (Omar Walker), trainer (Wayne DaCosta) and breeder (Henry W. Jaghai), along with champion owner (Elias Haloute) and champion groom (Purcell Keith).
