The St Thomas Police are reporting that all major crimes are down in the parish, except murder.

According to the Acting Commander of the St Thomas police, Deputy Superintendent Charmaine Shand, says there has been a marked increase in murder for this year, in comparison to the similar period in 2014.

She says there have been six homicides up to February 12, up from two for the similar period last year.

However, DSP Shand says there has been a reduction in the number of assaults, robberies, larceny and break-ins.

Assistant Commissioner Derrick Knight, has commended DSP Shand and her officers for the drop in these offences.

He has asked St Thomas Parish councillors for their full support in light of the increase in murders in the parish.
