National Discus record holder Travis Smikle, two-year ban was upheld by the Appeals Panel of the Jamaica Anti-doping Commission today.

As a result, Smikle will not be able to compete in any IAAF-sanctioned meet until June 21st and could miss out on a place on the Jamaican team to several international events later this year, including the IAAF Wold Championships in Beijing, China in August.

Smikle was banned last year after a sample he submitted during the National Senior Trials in June 2013 was found to contain the banned substance Hydrochlorothiazide.

Smikle last represented Jamaica at the London Olympic Games in 2012, the same year he broke the National Record for the men’s discus when he threw 67.12m.
