Discarded national striker Omar Cummings is currently on trial with Major League Soccer (MLS) club Portland Timbers.

Cummings has been practising with the Timbers in Tucson, Arizona for the past five days.

He has 42 goals and 30 assists in 185 appearances over eight seasons in MLS.

The 32-year-old had his best seasons in MLS in 2009 and 2010, recording 22 goals and 15 assists for the Colorado Rapids over those two seasons.

However, Cummings' last few years in the league have been marred by injuries and inconsistency.

Although he recorded three goals and three assists over 14 starts while playing with the Houston Dynamo last season, the Dynamo declined the option to extend his contract.
