Boys' Town's technical director, Andrew Price, has been stating all along his team's need to reel in the Digicel Premier League front-runners.
His Colour Red aggregation, which lies third in the standings on 47 points, get their big chance to make such an impact, when they tackle joint leaders Harbour View, on 54, at Collie Smith Drive in one of two giant clashes on today's third-round fixture.
The contest is set to kick-off at 3:30 p.m. and will end just about when the day's other massive showdown is being whistled under way, at 5 p.m., on the Drewsland Mini Stadium pitch where resurgent homesters Waterhouse, sixth with 37 points, will host legitimate title contenders Tivoli Gardens, who occupy fourth at 45.
Looking to deliver
For over a month, Price has been stressing the need to keep maximising points and was disappointed when they drew 1-1 at Rivoli on Sunday, chastising his team for missing too many chances.
Now they come head-to-head with one of the teams on which they have glued their sights for sometime and will be looking to deliver.
Though in a better position, Harbour View have been faced with similar pressure to get three points each game, as they try to create breathing space in the battle for the title.
They have been tied on points with defending champions Portmore United for the past four rounds and appeared set to open a two-point gap while leading 2-0 inside the closing minutes on Sunday, with Portmore having already completed a goalless draw at Meadhaven.
However, Harbour View's game against Reno at Frome took a dramatic turn and they conceded goals at the 87th minute, then inside the 10th minute of mammoth time added for stoppages, to also end in disappointing fashion.
Additionally, the Stars of the East would have been displeased with the way they squandered possession, trying to kill time.
READY ARSENAL
They should be looking to find better ways to decide their fate at the death than adding fuel to the opposition's armoury by feeding them possession, when they challenge dangerous Boys' Town, who are full of running and play to the final whistle.
Peter Keyes, Sunday's scorer George Vernal, Michael Campbell and Renae Lloyd are the Boys' Town players most likely to cause damage by scoring or setting up goals.
Harbour View are not short on weaponry either and could spring victory through one most familiar with the Boys' Town terrain, striker Denzil Watson. The man who scored nine goals in the red shirt this season, showed that his appetite has not waned since his recent transfer, also netting for his new club.
Another boost
The return of other leading scorers, Lovel Palmer and Marcelino Blackburn, as well as central midfielder Richard Edwards, all of whom were missing Sunday while serving time for yellow cards, will be another boost for Harbour View in this difficult tie.
In Premier League matches this season, the teams have shared a one-goal win apiece, Boys' Town at Harbour View and vice-versa, which shows the only advantage is what's created on the pitch.
On the question of pitch domination, Tivoli have grounds to argue otherwise since they beat Waterhouse - though marginally - home and away in league clashes this season.
The west Kingston club never had it easy, winning 2-1 or 1-0, and could face an even more difficult proposition this time with resurgent Waterhouse, quite steady with three consecutive league draws and Tivoli, inconsistent with two victories and two very uncharacteristic losses, in which they conceded three goals.
Tivoli's Sunday match at Arnett was postponed for funeral purposes but that should not have eroded their sharpness.
Explosive encounter
It should be an explosive encounter, with the cracking duo of Roland Dean and Navion Boyd for Tivoli, and Kevin Lamey and Jermaine Anderson for Waterhouse, leading their teams attacks.
Two of the form teams that have stayed unbeaten and tallied 11 points this round, Portmore and Sporting Central Academy, are set for an enthralling match-up under lights are Ferdie Neita Park. In clashes this season they have drawn 1-1 and Portmore snicked the other 1-0, which also indicate that another close contest is on the cards.
Joint bottom-of-the-table Reno had lost all four this round before Sunday's energising tie, which could inspire a strong performance at seventh-placed Arnett, who are pushing for a top six spot for the fourth round.
Hosts St Georges, lying fifth, are likely to strengthen its place for a spot in that elite grouping, which eliminates all possibilities of relegation, while opening the door for a title claim, however farfetched.
Village, occupying a relegation spot in the cellar, will not budge easily.
