A bureaucratic predicament

The Editor, Sir:

In response to a letter posted by Sandie Walker in the March 20th Gleaner, we had a similar experience in trying to insure an old VW beetle motor car.

The insurance company refused to insure the car without proof of address. We have been doing business with them for years. We live at a location outside of which the postman delivers letters to the gate, so we have to use a mailing address. They refused to accept those bills. We, therefore, in essence, have no proof of address.

Will we ever be able to insure the $35,000 car? Which money-laundering criminal do you know who drives a $35,000 VW bug?

From reading Ms Walker's letter, I realise that more stress is predicted for our future, not having a JPS bill at our address. God help us.

The government will next send police out on the road to give tickets to persons who have no insurance when it has set up the system to prevent us from getting car insurance. Could this be the new strategy to raise money to fill the deficit in the Budget?

I am, etc.,
