LETTER OF THE DAY - Some famous names would miss the Golding Cabinet
The Editor,Sir: Most Jamaicans seem to support the Prime Minister's 'no gays in my Cabinet' comments. I am not one of those persons. In fact, if someone had told me that he made that comment, I would have accused that person of mischief.

Disappointed with the PM

The Editor, Sir: I commend The Gleaner editorial in your brilliant article "Homophobic silliness and the failure of leadership". It was an intelligent article, covering all the critical points related to the controversial 'Hardtalk' BBC interview by PM Bruce Golding.

PM playing the people's guitar

The Editor, Sir: In response to your editorial titled 'Homophobic silliness and a failure of leadership', I would like to know what is the point you are trying to convey? The PM was displaying a level of leadership that is severely lacking in our society.

Organise crop planting

The Editor, Sir: Cassava is being recommended to the nation as the staple to help out or replace rice or flour. I do not have any problem with the people of Westmoreland planting cassava, but there are other crops that should be planted too.

World oil reserves running out?

The Editor, Sir: The perpetual rise in oil prices over the last four years has spawned a thought which has not been parleyed publicly, which is: are these rapid increases in price a sign of worldwide depleting oil reserves?

Noteworthy

Buggering is a violation of the judicial system of Jamaica and that question could not have been answered any differently but in the way PM Golding responded. The PM has to be the enforcer of all aspects of our constitutional and judicial law and, at present, buggery is a violation of our judicial system.
