Importance of employees
published: Monday | November 19, 2007

The Editor, Sir:

WHETHER YOU agree with me or not, employees are the ones who make a company and as such continue to ensure the company's existence. Employers you need to communicate with your employees on a very professional and mature level regardless of the level at which they fall within your organisation. It is a fact that we live in a very hostile society and, as such, one shouldn't go to work with such hostility in them.

Human resource managers, I believe, are trained individuals on how to handle all types of employees. The human resource manager who shouts at or insults an employee, especially in front of other employees is only making things worse for that employee's self-esteem. There are some people out there who are emotional enough to just take such treatment, but there are a lot of young men out there who will not tolerate such behaviour.

No contribution

Miss/Mr. Human Resource Manager, answer this for me. If an employee approached you in the same manner as you approached them, what would you do? What I believe you would do is fire them and not even think about how you are contributing to the development of society.

There is one particular human resource manager for a particular company who makes it a habit to abuse her powers by insulting employees for minor things based only on gossip. Answer this Ms. Human Resource Manager, how are you contributing to society?

I am, etc.
