OUTFITHER CAN score a fitting victory at Caymanas Park today when she takes on five opponents in the annual renewal of the Dr. Ralston Feanny Memorial Trophy over 1100 metres for native bred three-year-olds.

The trophy was donated some years ago by many-time champion trainer Philip Feanny in memory of his father. Dr. Feanny was an owner and breeder before his death in September, 1999. He owned horses such as PERSIAN COIN, RUFF N' TUFF, THE DOENUT KING, CHEETAH and MONTE CARLO.

For his contribution to racing, Dr. Feanny was inducted into the Hall of Fame of Thoroughbred Racing in 1993. Trainer Feanny, who saddles the highly-fancied OUTFITHER, should pay homage to his father by posting the winner.

Although yet to realise her full potential, OUTFITHER has caught the eye at exercise in preparation for this trophy and indications are she will only need to be alert at the start in order to take top honours.

The grey filly by Outrigger out of Korsage was installed an odds-on favourite in her past two races but failed to deliver, having reared at the start on both occasions.

Despite this, she stayed on to finish three lengths third to TAKE FIVE over 1200 metres on July 28, closing six lengths up the lane after missing the break.

Significantly, OUTFITHER notched her only win over this trip on March 7 when strolling home by 6 1/2 lengths from SHE'S OUTRAGEOUS and TANTESOLDE failing to revisit the winners' enclosure in six subsequent races, OUTFITHER has been laid out for today's race an set to go 1.5 kg overweight for the services of veteran jockey Ian Spence, gets a glorious opportunity to score an overdue win.

Still, it won't be a walk in the park for OUTFITHER as others such as the unbeaten PAGEE PRINCESS, SPACESAVER and DR. BADOO should ensure she is extended.

Her obvious danger must be PAGEE PRINCESS, who closed rapidly after missing the break to catch BORDER PATROL on the line in a round five race for maidens when making her debut on September 12.

Double

Feanny should complete the double with THE QUEEN in the round five Winnie Anglin Memorial Cup for native bred two-year-old fillies. A narrow loser last time out, the chestnut filly by Royal Minister out of Regina Savage has been administered Lasix for this race and despite the claims of the well-forward debutante, the Anthony Nunes-trained IT IS I (working well), a full sister to the 2004 Guineas and Oaks winner LATONIA (both being by Footloose II - Private Number) and also the Feanny-trained SUNSHINEOFMYLIFE, THE QUEEN, with leading jockey Trevor Simpson retained, is tipped to go all the way.

Other firm fancies on the card are PRINCESS LORNA to lead home LANNY GIRL in the fourth race for maidens, HEZA RANKING (working well) to repeat in the fifth, BACK POCKET (working exceptionally well) in the sixth and the well-trained CALABASH BAY to catch this year's Derby winner THE BOMBER in the open allowance sprint.
