Now that Mr. Don Wehby has formally resigned from GraceKennedy, we hope that the brouhaha aroused by his appointment as a Minister without Portfolio in the Ministry of Finance will subside. As we reported yesterday, in the case of Mr. Danny Williams' association with the Michael Manley administration in the late 1970s, there is precedent for this level of linkages with prominent private sector personalities.

In recent years, life insurance companies have shifted their sales focus to the provision of living benefits for its policyholders. These benefits are paid to the insured during their lifetime. These policies include investments, critical illness and accident benefits. (Robinson)
How to end persistent blackouts
THE EDITOR, Sir: The story of The Jamaica Public Service (JPS) has been a very long and sad 0ne. Now that there is a new majority owner, I wonder if they will acknowledge that there is a simple, albeit expensive, solution to eliminate the continuing and aggravating power cuts to which we have been subjected for so many, many years.
Issue: Crime not changing course
A new government has been voted in by the electorate of Jamaica. A wave of sweeping changes is to be undertaken by this Bruce Golding-led administration. However, while all of this is unfolding, the old monster of crime seems to have no regard for the affairs of the country as it has decided not to change its course.
