Any one of four can win - Kiwi coach
published: Saturday | September 22, 2007

RUTH AIKEN, coach of world's number-ranked-one team, New Zealand, said any one of the four sides at this year's World Netball Championships (WNC) could take home the title.

Aiken made her comments after watching the just concluded three Test-series between Jamaica and England.

" I think the top four teams, England, Jamaica, New Zealand and Australia, on their day can take the title," said Aiken.

"The Jamaicans have a ton of talent. They are still working on their options and their combinations and I think they are going to be very strong when they come down to New Zealand," she said.

Strong, skilfull

"I thought the Jamaicans were strong and very skillful. I thought the way they bounced back in the second Test match (on Wednesday night) was awesome," she said.

Aiken added: "I think the English are a very slick side. They have been quite seasoned for a while now and I thought, especially in the first Test, they really came out and performed very well."

In their last competitive series New Zealand were stunned 50-45 by England in May and Aiken said: "We will have to play with a lot more confidence than we did when they beat us (England)."

"We will have to play with a lot more speed and really let the ball go and when we do that then it will be game on," he said.

Aiken said England and Jamaica were two very good sides and that New Zealand had to be "at our best whenever we play against them".
