The Editor, Sir:While Jamaica's attention is fixed on Bruce Golding, the nation's eighth Prime Minister, we must pause to commend the security forces for their tireless effort in maintaining law and order during the passing of Hurricane Dean and the recently held general election.
In the aftermath of Hurricane Dean I heard nurses, along Windward Road, praising the police for transporting home those who would have otherwise been stranded. A sense of security was felt when commuting through volatile areas during the election period.
The strong presence maintained by them reduced the level of looting. The actions of the Jamaica Constabulary Force, irrefutably, showed camaraderie as they lived their motto, 'Protect, Serve and Reassure' this period was not crime free, we must recognise their presence and devotion to duty.
