Blissful MoBay nuptials

Dovecakes, it was the high-society wedding that all of Montego Bay wanted to attend! And since y'all know that the more prized the affair, the fewer that have access to it, therein lies its appeal. And so, on the charts of exclusivity and 'fabness', this one was a tenner, with the principals being - the bride, daughter of the Auditor General Adrian Strachan, Dr. Susan Elizabeth Strachan; the groom, son of Montego Bay socialite Mrs. Ruth Johnson Dr. Peter Balfour Johnson. What a fabulous picture of marital bliss they made!

My dears, the Johnson's Brandon Hill estate was transformed into a fabulous flickering fantasy, occasioned by a sea of oriental lanterns, scented candles and decorative crystals which had the short list of invited guests 'oohing' and 'aahing' at the magic of it all, resplendent as it was in hues of delicate blue that laced the estate. With cocktails of mimosas, tamarind delight and passion fruit, eliciting audible gasps of surprise from some, it was just an overture to the crescendo that was to be the total experience.

The bride was stunning in an original couture gown that she flew to Italy to have made ... strapless, bodice-hugging, adorned with Swarovski crystals and the envy of all future brides. As she stood, picturesque in all her fabulous glory on the grand terrace of the Johnson's divine house, delicately clutching a handful of orchids and lilies, guests were in for a surprise as world renowned saxophonist Dave McLaughlin (yes dears, the same one that plays for Whitney Houston) serenaded the bride, as she made her way to the gazebo in the west garden where guests awaited the exchange of the nuptials.

Matron of honour, socialite and soon-to-be doctor, Davia Ellis-Shepherd, jetted in from Hawaii to do the honours for her best friend, and my dears, did she work it!

Fabulous style

Ruth Johnson insisted that guests wait on the south lawn - bird sanctuary, water fountains, light jazz and cocktails to die for - until the east lawn was open for the reception ... and was it worth the wait! The grande dame floated from guest to guest in a Carmel Tenfah original, aquamarine Grecian ensemble and proved that style and class go well with fabulous, mature women.

It was a gathering of the fabulous and the 'who's who' and then some, with the medical profession taking pride of place at this the nuptial of colleagues, as among the guests were: Dr. Myrthon Smith (best man), Dr. Mario Guthrie, Dr. Desmond Johnson, Dr. Natalie Tulloch-Reid, Dr. Karen Galloway, Dr. Cynthia Greenwich, Dr. Steven Blake, Dr. Raquel Reid-Stultz, Dr. Felix Akinladejo and his fierce wife Olubusola; Phil and Gloria Johnson; attorneys-at-law: Kechea Dixon; the drop-dead gorgeous husband-and-wife duo of James and Adenike Roberts.

Also in attendance were: Etana Roomes; the lovely Opal Reid; Randy Burgh; Phillipa Bassett; Steven and Karen Blake; the trio of traffic stoppers: Valerie Campbell, Madge Levy and Norma Webster (whose husband, famous crooner and cabaret performer E.T. Webster, serenaded the couple with his powerful rendition of I Wanna Know What Love Is.

Oh, my dears, this wedding made for an absolutely fabulous show-stopper.
