Lotto vibes - Lara's Cup runneth 'over'
published: Saturday | April 21, 2007

Jah Foresight, Contributor

This was a very strange week. A lot of lotto buyers should be gasping for breath and wondering where the rakes are coming from. For instance, that gun battle that took place in western Kingston. I do not have the slightest hint what it is all about, but I can say that it flopped big time. This led to a very subdued Passa Passa and I think that this will continue to happen for weeks to come. Passa Passa will not return to full strength until after the elections.

The story that will drive all the lotto punters really crazy is the discovery of the seven donkeys in the truck in Little London, Westmoreland. Iam wondering if these donkeys were being sold to the scrapyard. We all know that spare parts for cars are hard to come by. I don't like the fact that these beasts of burden were stolen for consumption locally. I do not see any hotel, or restaurant or patty shop buying any of this meat after the big rumour the other day. It must be for export to Haiti, in what our police might call meat for guns. One person suggested that these animals might be captured near no-parking signs.

The other strange story is the resignation of Brian Lara. Few expected to hear these words from Sir Brian. It is now the dream of most West Indian fans that the head of the board, coach and captain all resign as officials did in Pakistan and England. Brian is a master batsman and a human with an ego, with all his records.

Small pool of players

There has been severe criticism against the entire cricket team and I am amazed at some of the comments. One should just look at the populations of the other competing countries. I can tell you that there are not even six million folks in the British Caribbean. Just look at the populations of India and Pakistan, for instance. The probability of changing team line-ups and finding new stars is easier than in the West Indies. Whether we like it or not, Lara would still draw crowds, just like Yellow Man.

The other sad news is about the Korean youth who slaughtered 32 folks in Virginia. If you turn to some news networks, there is analysis upon analysis and some serious overkill in the media. I am sad that this youth is Korean. You might notice I made no distinction between North and South Korean.

The propaganda machinery wanted to show that these people are wicked and I think that some are disappointed that he is not from North Korea. The United States is always scared of home-grown terrorists. I am totally against their gun laws where you can practically go into a shop and buy any gun that you want. It is so hard to get a gun in Jamaica to protect life and property legally that at times you are tempted to go looking on the black market.

The jackpot is rising and this Saturday you might have the chance to win $13 million. The numbers on Wednesday were 1, 16, 17, 24, 29, 37, and the bonus number 34. There were the consecutive numbers of 16 and 17. There was one winner in the bonus ball category of $411,955. There were also 16 winners of $16,480 in the Match 5 category.

I noticed that one radio station is changing its format. My word of warning is that they were loved for the past and people are normally resistant to radical changes. I do not see where the new changes will gain any new points in the ratings. The change has just created a boring sameness.
