I am writing to express my annoyance with the lack of attention that is given to the problem of the 'windscreen wipers' and in the process appealing to the necessary authorities to remove all the 'windscreen wipers' from the stop lights across the country. These men who feel that this is a form of employment have only been a constant nuisance to motorists, especially female motorists.
These young men often times aggressively approach motorists to wipe their windscreens and ignore our refusal to have this done.
They also prey incessantly on women whom they figure they can take more advantage of.
I recently had a frightening experience of one young man knocking angrily at my car window demanding that I give him something after I had nicely told him not to wipe my windscreen which he ignored.
I really do not want to imagine what could have happened if it was not for the change of light indicating that I could go my way.
To fellow motorists, please do not encourage these young men to gather at the stop light by offering them money no matter how small in amount.
Wiping windscreens is no form of employment and can only be described as begging.
Something should be done now to have this problem remedied.
