The Editor,Sir:Please allow me space in the people's paper to write to Dr. Phillip Phinn.
I am not condemning Dr. Phinn because I have no such power to do so. Not even Jesus when he was on earth had such power. According to John 3 V 17, God did not send his son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through him might be saved.
I am sure Dr. Phinn knows that there are false prophets. A very interesting story is recorded in 1st Kings 22 and second Chronicles 18 with the false prophets and some 400 prophecies telling King Ahab of Israel to go and fight the King of Aram. 'Yes, go down to Romoth in Gilead and fight for the land; you will win the battle.'
One man who was in prison who was Micah the son of Imlah was the only one who was the true prophet. Kings and Queens love to hear all the good things said about them even if they are not true.
Another interesting story is written in Acts 9 about Simon Magus, who was a sorcerer at Samaria with great power and influence among the people (Acts 8: 9-13). He was even trying to buy power from the apostles. Peter had to rebuke him in Acts 8:14-24.
I am not calling you a false prophet, Dr. Phinn, but you need to tell me how many seats the People's National Party is going to win by and also give me them constituency by constituency.
This is not like an American presidential election. It is parish by parish and constituency by constituency.
I ask you Dr. Phinn, what if your prophecies are not true, what would you tell us?
Another point, could it be that you are sharing your preferences? If so please leave God out of it.
Our national elections are held every five years so why the Most Honourable Prime Minister will only rule for seven years, why? You need to explain more. I think you are trying to influence the people who to vote for.
I am, etc.,
