Dears, it had all the trappings of a red-carpet event, save for the carpet itself.
But that did not detract from the fact that the event was one very swanky do, boasting all the elements of smasheroni, and then some! And little wonder here as it was the joint celebration of one of the Caribbean's leading lifestyle magazines, Maco, celebrating its 10th anniversary, as well as the 15th anniversary of Caribbean Producers Jamaica (CPJ), one of the region's leading importers and distributors of fine wines and other goodies.
Maco is a vibrant magazine, owned and edited by the lovely Neysha Soodeen and represents the very best of the Caribbean in lifestyle, culture, architecture, culinaria, and generally just showcasing the very best of the region and its people.
Since Maco hit newsstands around the globe, it has redefined social journals and the Caribbean perspective.
a star was born
And when Mark Hart and Tom Tyler pooled their resources to create CPJ, a star was born! Headquartered in the fab city of Montego Bay, CPJ has emerged as the single most important mover and shaker in the business of wines and spirits, and the hospitality and entertainment industry, not just in Montego Bay, but in Jamaica and the region as a whole, surpassing the punditry and their expectations and predictions, by asserting their primacy. With a record stock of fine brands and labels at its command, it has surpassed the traditional distributors, with its hands-on management style and customer friendly modus that has seen it eclipsing its rivals in the business of service.
In its existence, co-chairmen Hart and Tyler have not only successfully changed the way and face of distribution, they have also managed to make CPJ a household name among the ranks of merchants and consumers alike.
Well, the history of Maco and CPJ is one of mutual admiration and success, and with both having conquered Jamaica and the region, the two entities partnered on Saturday, November 14, in hosting what was a fab celebratory/promotional do, and dears, it was all that and then some!
Hosted at the tres chic Spanish Court Hotel in New Kingston, the do got under way with guests being greeted by the principals of both entities in receiving line at the lower lobby of the happening hotel. Here, guests were treated to the drink-du-jour, a most refreshing cocktail mix dubbed 'The Macotini', a combination of Grey Goose Vodka and passion fruit, created by Jacqui Tyson for the occasion. It was the perfect cocktail to set the night on fire!
And with nattily suited waiters offering up some divine cheeses, grapes, crackers, cold cuts and an assortment of other goodies from their laden trays, y'all know we are talking party ready here! Welcomes and felicitations out of the way, guests were then escorted up the hotel's Sky Terrace and Bar, for the meet of the evening!
Well my dears, talk about prime time! It was a gathering of the beautiful people, and then some. The wine of choice, HobNob, but the find of the night was definitely the Choclatini, a potent mix of Grey Goose and chocolate, topped with whipped cream. Oh my word, talk about divine! Pumpkins, this was it, and then some!
