Western Bureau:

Wadadah FC will have a one-goal advantage against Seba United while Granville FC and Frome FC will be seeking to break their 0-0 dead-lock this afternoon when the curtain comes down on the semi-finals of the 2008-09 Captain's Bakery Western Super League with a second leg double-header at Jarrett Park in Montego Bay.

In the opening game at 5 p.m., Granville FC and Frome FC, who battled to a 0-0 draw in their first leg game at the Frome Sports Ground on Thursday, will be seeking to break that deadlock, while in the feature game at 7 p.m. Seba United will be seeking to overturn Wadadah's first leg 2-1 win on Wednesday.

Protest

While the competition's steering committee is yet to issue any statement about the status of the game between Granville FC and Frome FC, The Sunday Gleaner has been reliably informed that the management of Frome FC lodged a protest following Thursday's first leg game, claiming that Granville FC used an ineligible player.

"I have heard about the protest but I am not the least bit concerned because I know that all my players, including the one they are questioning, were all properly registered," said Granville's coach Tracey Reid. "We are mentally and physically ready for the game and we won't allow any distractions to get in our way."

In the second-leg game, a battle royal is anticipated between arch-rivals Wadadah FC and Seba United, who are both hell-bent on regaining their NPL status for the 2009-10 season. While Wadadah won the first-leg game, Seba United played well enough, especially in the second half, to show that they are quite capable of bouncing back.

"We made some errors in the first-leg game and it cost us but we are confident that we can take this second-leg fixture," said Seba United's coach Alrick Henry. "The first game belonged to Wadadah but this one will be ours."

However, the Wadadah team, which has been having somewhat of a fairy tale season after being booted out of the competition and then reinstated, is flushed with confidence and will be aiming to win by an even wider margin this time around.

Strongly focussed

"Now that we have seen what Seba has to offer, we are strongly focussed for the second-leg game," said Wadadah coach Daniel Rickettes. "We are quite confident that we will repeat our first leg win."

Wadadah will once again be banking heavily on first-leg scorers Jeremy Bucknor and Arval Campbell alongside the wily Curtis Palmer, top defender Mark Williams and goalkeeper Tristan Bernard. For their part, Seba will be looking to Wilfred Smith, Delroy Ellis, Ricardo Geddes and schoolboy Allan Ottey to deliver for them.

In addition to the Captain's Bakery Trophy and the $150,000 winner's purse, the eventual champions will earn a place in the 2009-10 Digicel Premier League elimination tournament.
