PARLIAMENT'S HARD-hitting Public Accounts Commit-tee (PAC) will meet today for the first time this year to examine the auditor general's report for the financial year ended March 31, 2008.
The auditor general's report had raised concerns about improper payments, losses, irregularities and unverified transactions at a number of government entities for the period under review.
When PAC members start their review of the auditor general's report, a number of breaches of the Government's prescribed procurement rules will come under the microscope of the committee.
Auditor General Pamela Monroe-Ellis had reported that audits at some government entities revealed instances in which vouchers and supporting invoices had not been presented for expenditure totalling $188.7 million. In this regard, the auditor general was unable to verify their authenticity.
