THE 22nd Canadian Reggae Music Awards takes place Saturday at the Doubletree Hilton hotel in Toronto. Winners will be selected from 17 categories.

Live performances are expected from veteran bass player/singer Boris Gardiner and saxophonist Tony Greene. Gardiner, who made a name as a bassist with producer Lee 'Scratch' Perry and recorded hit songs including I Want to to Wake Up With You, will be honoured by the awards committee for his contribution to Jamaican music.

Greene's Midnight Blue is among the nominees in the International Album of the Year category.

The Canadian Reggae Music Awards is produced annually by Winston Hewitt, a former member of the rocksteady group, The Pioneers. That trio is best known for the 1969 hit song Long Shot Kick De Bucket.
