"I believe in giving back. I believe you can make a contribution to society through the kids," Williams, who resides in New York, told The Gleaner.

He added: "I wish Jamaica would do more for its children, put children as a priority. Without the children, there is no future for the country."

Some of the schools that will benefit from this venture in May are Adastra Gardens Basic School and Gordon Town All-Age School. COJO's main source of funding comes from an annual scholarship gala, which is held in New York every December.

COJO is a non-profit organisation, founded in 1994, geared towards driving community development. COJO is an offshoot of the name Cudjoe, leader of a band of Maroons, who rebelled against British colonisers in 18th-century Jamaica.
