Munro College in St Elizabeth has an honour roll system that has been in effect for many years and, like Manning's, recognises its top achievers by way of awards, specifically gold, silver and bronze certificates.
Students in grades 7-9 need to achieve 85 per cent or more, while those in fourth to sixth forms need an average of 80 per cent or more to make the principal's honour roll.
Guidance counsellor Paula Miller-Foster said the desire to make the honour roll brings about a competitive spirit among boys at the institution, as they study hard to keep their grades up with the honour roll criteria.
On February 24, The Gleaner, along with sponsors NCB Foundation, Capital and Credit Merchant Bank and JPS, will publish Top of the Class. This publication will feature the top achievers in local schools.
