Chuck is right about guns

The Editor, Sir:

I applaud Delroy Chuck, Speaker of the House, on his position that decent, law-abiding citizens should be able to own guns to defend lives and property.

We are aware that there are procedures, to include background checks to qualify/disqualify an applicant. Why is it that special-interest group, Independent Jamaica Council for Human Rights must be in the opposite corner against government legislature that is aimed at the criminals of Jamaica?

Can you hear the human rights groups saying that if you give a person a gun, they will shoot? Let us examine the shooting statistics. How many law-abiding citizens have been shooting among themselves? I cannot believe what this group is telling the government of Jamaica.

Shame on these people seeking photo ops on TV and in the newspapers.

Decent law-abiding citizens shall prevail some day.

I am, etc.,
