Who really wants to be poor?

Dear Ms Thompson,

I liked your article about poverty. It's so true. You have mentioned the problems and solutions. Just keep on educating the masses. One love!

- Everton McFarlane

Dear Ms Thompson,

The article you wrote on poverty is inspirational. I wish more people of your class would just stop denying the real issues affecting us all and would just tackle the real issues of inequality, injustice, classism and oppression which are going to destroy this country.

- Adolph Watson

Let's talk about my penis size

Dear Dr Williams-Green,

I am an 18-year-old male, feeling some pain in my abdomen whenever I urinate. What could be the cause of this and what should I do?

Hi Reader,

I would suggest you visit a doctor or health centre as soon as you can. If this pain began recently, you may have a urinary tract infection. If this is a long-time problem, it should certainly be assessed by a health practitioner.

Don't delay!

Dr Pauline Williams-Green

The art of ear candling

Dear Dr Robertson

I read an article on September 24 in The Gleaner's Health section about ear candling. Not only has ear candling been proven to do absolutely nothing for the conned patients who subject themselves to it, the article went on further to spread ridiculous rumours of Hopi Indians using the same technique and bringing it to the attention of the Western world.

Please do some research before publishing 'quack' medicine. Some people take everything they read as truth, especially when they get the information in a national newspaper with a good reputation.

If you care to read for yourself:

or:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ear_candling

If you don't want to take my word for it or the above websites, do your own research. I'm positive you'll only find that ear candling and its origin is a con.

- Travis M.
