Bob Marley - File
BOB Marley: A Life, the latest biography of the reggae superstar, was recently released in the United States and Europe by Massachusetts-based Interlink Publishing.
Written by England-born, St Kitts-based journalist Garry Steckles, Bob Marley: A Life, examines Marley's boyhood days in rural Nine Miles, St Ann to his time in the Kingston ghetto of Trench Town where he became a member of The Wailers.
His phenomenal rise to superstardom in the 1970s gets most attention in the 212-page book. Steckles looks at Marley's relationship with the three men who helped shape his career, namely producers Clement Dodd and Lee 'Scratch' Perry, and Island Records founder Chris Blackwell.
Steckles started his career as a sportswriter in England in 1960. He has written extensively on the Caribbean music scene for over 20 years.
