Style:SATURDAY - Sole sista: night-time chic
published: Saturday | August 23, 2008

Elisabeth Salmon, Saturday Life Writer

Add sensuality to your look with these metallic platforms.

After last week's edition which turned the spotlight on daytime footwear, join Saturday Style and slip into something sexy and comfy when the sun goes down. Spice up the cool summer nights by adding height and shine to your night-time footwear.

Platforms, spike heels and wedges are all excellent options if you're looking to be a step above the competition. Throw in metallics and adornments such as buckles and rhinestones, you're sure to brighten up the dark nights.

The low-down on high heels

It's no secret that the change in posture associated with the wearing of high heels can cause a number of problems throughout the female body.

Although some conditions such as bunions and hammer toes might not be as serious as, say, Morton's neuroma or ankle injuries, the risk of all might be reduced in a couple of ways.

Remember that the taller and skinnier the heel, the more pressure is placed on the body parts and the more potentially harmful it might be to your health. Try wearing your highest heels during occasions which are shorter or require short periods of standing.

Opt for open-toe shoes instead of closed-toe varieties as this will put less pressure on your toes and significantly reduce the possibility of bunions or hammer toes.
