Janet bares underwear
published: Saturday | August 23, 2008

Jackson

Janet Jackson is releasing her own range of underwear.

Designed by the singer in collaboration with Australian designer, Bruno Schiavi, the line is named after Janet's 1987 hit, Pleasure Principle.

Janet said: "People have come to me with other ideas but lingerie is a passion for me. Just like music and acting, I can't do it unless I put 100 per cent into it. I've always hated it when lingerie is uncomfortable."

The underwear line will debut in the United States in November before being sold around the world and will feature bras and pants. All items will be priced under £20.

Janet, 42, knows the importance of good underwear only too well.

In 2004, she famously had a 'wardrobe malfunction' at the Super Bowl, where her breast popped out on live TV as she performed with Justin Timberlake.

Janet - who has battled with fluctuating weight, and once claimed to have lost 60 pounds in four months - has also previously talked about people's perception of her, saying she has learned to accept her body.

Janet said: "I like myself a lot more than I used to. I had a very difficult time in my 20s especially. It was hard for me to look in the mirror and find something that I liked about myself. There is a moment when you get older when your metabolism slows down and you don't feel like working out anymore, so you don't keep yourself fit anymore, but that's your decision. Why should you be judged for it?"

From Jack to James

Jack White 'became' James Bond when he recorded the new movie's theme song.

The White Stripes frontman, who has joined forces with Alicia Keys on Another Way to Die, felt the British spy's pain as he "screamed and moaned" through the track - which will feature in Quantum of Solace.

He said: "I drummed for Alicia's voice and she mimicked the guitar tones. Then we joined our voices and screamed and moaned about these characters in the film and their isolation, having no one to trust, not even themselves. Maybe we became them for a few minutes."

Jack also revealed he had wanted to work with the No One singer for years and was delighted when the opportunity finally arose.

He added to America's OK! magazine: "After a couple of years of wanting to collaborate with Alicia Keys, it took James Bond himself to finally make it happen. Alicia put some electric energy into her breath that cemented itself into the magnetic tape; very inspiring to watch. It gave me a new voice, and I wasn't myself anymore."

Previous artistes who have lent their talents to Bond theme songs include Dame Shirley Bassey, Sir Tom Jones, Nancy Sinatra, Sir Paul McCartney, Tina Turner, Sheryl Crow and Madonna.

Quantum of Solace sees Daniel Craig reprise his role as suave British spy Bond for the second time.

The movie - which also stars Dame Judi Dench, Gemma Arterton and Olga Kurylenko - will be released in November.
