Just as no other runner was up to speed, to match Usain Bolt's world record, it seems no other country can match Jamaica's passion for the world market.
A group of professionals gathered in Jamaica Trade and Invest's training room around a projector screen when the 200-metre and 400-metre hurdles finals were on. The energy used to cheer Jamaica on in the 2008 Olympics will be focused on marketing the brand Jamaica, especially in China, according to Marjorie Kennedy, president of the Jamaica Exporters Association.
Agreement
Christopher Zacca said he agrees with Kennedy.
"I generally support her comments," he said. "I think the private sector in tourism has done a tremendous job. Other industries may not have the resources to do an effective job."
He also said the industries need to collaborate with smaller companies so the country may capitalise on these Olympic achievements.
"The Government needs to join with the smaller companies within the private sector, such as manufacturing and agriculture, so we can take advantage of the tremendous exposure."
