Jennifer Wilson, mother of 400-metre hurdlist Melaine Walker, said that her daughter's win and Olympic record run yesterday at the Beijing Olympics was no
surprise to her.
An overjoyed Wilson said that her daughter was very confident that she could do it.
"She said to me, Mommy, I'm going to do it don't worry," said the 52-year-old mother of six.
"Even the record," she added.
For coach Raymond 'KC' Graham it was only a matter of time for her to reach the top.
Very disciplined
The former St Jago High School coach, who guided Walker as well as Kerron Stewart during their teenage years, describes Walker as a very disciplined athlete.
"She was very nice and disciplined, she did not miss training and was always on time," he said.
Graham said Walker had it in her as she had the form.
"I knew she could do it, I've been watching her, and she looked very impressive and unbeatable throughout the season," he added.
Wilson said that she has not yet made any plans for her daughter's return but knows what she would do on seeing her.
"I would hug and kiss her... and say I love you my golden girl," Wilson said.
"I can't explain how much I'm happy," she added.
