TIME HAS run out for the developer of a commercial complex at 14 Caledonia Road in Cross Roads, as a demolition order from the Supreme Court, expired at midnight on Monday.

Mayor of Kingston, Desmond McKenzie said notices have been served on the developer to dismantle the illegal structure.

Warned repeatedly

He told journalists on Monday at a press conference at the Kingston and St Andrew Corporation offices, downtown Kingston, that for more than four years the developer has violated building regulations and has been warned repeatedly by the KSAC to comply.

The mayor said the KSAC would be seeking to recover costs for demolishing the building from the owner. He said the exercise would be carried out at night to prevent traffic congestion.

It was also reported that there were 183 building violations in the Corporate Area up until yesterday. The Gleaner has not yet been able to contact the developer.
