Searching for family roots
published: Thursday | June 26, 2008

The Editor, Sir:

I have been looking for information on my family history and came across a story in your paper, 'Belafonte to shoot scenes for documentary in Jamaica'. The date published was April 16, 2006.

It said in the story that his grandmother was Jane Love. Jane Love was my grandfather's sister, and I am finding it very hard to find any information on the family. I know Jane lived at Old Bethany Alexandrea post, St Ann, Jamaica.

Some years ago I placed an advert in your paper asking for information, and I did get some information back then, but the lady I was able to get some information from was Clair Love Fraser, and she died within some weeks of contact.

Looking for my roots

If I can find out who Jane Love's mother and father were, I can work my way from that.

My grandfather's name was William Augustus Clark, but since I have been looking for my roots, it seems the name may not have been Clark, but I know Jane Love was his sister. All Williams children are dead now, it's only the grandchildren left and we are all over 50. I would like to find out something about our roots. It is very important to my sister and me. Thank you for any help you can give me.

I am, etc,
