HOTTEST TOPICS ON THE COCKTAIL CIRCUIT

When the chief got mad!

1 The story on everyone's lips last weekend was the one that the chief had to 'recall' one of his very own from the Big Apple when news reached him that the person had flown first class to New York, ostensibly on Government business, with his mistress in tow. The story is that they had both checked in to the prestigious Waldorf Astoria hotel, and were living high on the hog, at taxpayers' expense. Sources close to the scenario say the chief is livid and the offending party was told to return to Kingston on the next available flight.

What a mess!

2 Word about town is that all is definitely not well over at Air Jamaica. First, there was the Banana Republic-styled intervention that saw the taxiing plane being ordered to return to the gate to pick up one passenger. Then there is now word of flights being suspended or rerouted on the weekend as there was simply no fuel for them to take off.

Rumours and video clips

3 Some are saying that at least one of the X-rated video clips in circulation was done deliberately to squash rumours about the male player.

Laughter time

4 People are still laughing at the comments attributed to a certain organisation the other day, as they say it is akin to the cat offering to guard the milk for the farmer. The records will show that the self-same members of the organisation have a certain record.

Frivolous lawsuit

5 Some say the frivolous lawsuit suggests business must be worse than thought and this must be some pie-in-the-sky attempt at supplementing depleting revenue.

Snickering neighbours

6 The neighbours all came out to gawk and snicker the other day as they watched the Jamaica Public Service crew and the police remove the illegal connections at a certain complex. And they were not quiet either as they voiced their opinions about their thieving neighbours.

Exodus continues

7 First, there was the odious ruling by the 'Children's Auntie', whose husband, you will recall, was a card-carrying member of the party. Realising that something was amiss, the professionals gave the undertaking to waive the penalty. In step, the overly zealous political one with an overrule. Meanwhile, the exodus continues with no end in sight, as even those of her own political persuasion have joined the exodus.

It's celebration time!

8 Seems as if the days of the trailer-park Doyenne are coming to an end and none too soon for the many her draconian behaviour has displaced. Word is, there are several parties planned to celebrate her departure.

Watching the PM

9 Will yet another national institution be brought into disrepute by those who came in on the promise of change and good order, or will the PM do the right thing and put national interest above party concerns by reassigning the offending official?

Cass-cass at motel

10 Friends say the 'Shotgun' marriage is in trouble as the wife followed him to the motel recently and, while she hung around in the lobby in her best disguise, sure enough, the current girlfriend showed up. Well, the cass-cass that followed still has people whispering.
