Sharon Hay-Webster, member of Parliament for South Central St Catherine, is still trying to come to grips with the brutal slaying of her uncle, Calvin Fitz-Henley, a retired tutor in secretarial studies.
Thousands of secretaries benefited from the tutorship of the 76-year-old man whose throat was cut after he wandered off in the New Kingston area early Monday.
Hay-Webster told The Gleaner her uncle was last seen alive on Saturday when he accompanied his sister to the Orange Street market in downtown Kingston.
Fitz-Henley, who had Alzheimer's disease, was killed on Holborn Road.
Mystified by the motive
Hay-Webster told The Gleaner on Monday that she was mystified by the motive of his killer/s, adding that her uncle was not aggressive.
"You assist constituents to get things done, early post-mortem dates, assist them with funerals ... but there is nothing like having that hit you.
"It was so hard to see a man who had such knowledge within him which he shared, who caused the motivation of great professional standards ... ," Hay-Webster said, holding back tears.
Members of Parliament's Public Accounts Committee on Monday expressed regret at the killing of the parliamentarian's uncle and sent condolences to the family.
The police have not yet established a motive for the killing.
