published: Wednesday | May 28, 2008

After all his promotional and humorous experience, Rohan Gunter, the first Comedy Buss winner, is now venturing towards endorsing his own comedy shows.

Being the promoter of the annually held 'Eclipse Pool Party', he is now trying his hand at comedy under the company Unexpected Projexz. The Gleaner-sponsored 'Mi Nah Laugh' comedy show series 'We take Comedy very Serious', had its first and very successful staging at the Courtleigh Auditorium on March 2.

The next staging is scheduled to take place in the cool hills of Mandeville, Manchester, at the Golf View Hotel, on Sunday, June 1, showtime 7:00 p.m.

The show will feature comedians such as Ity and Fancy Cat, Apache Chief and Sarge, Lemon, Comedy Buss winners Rohan Gunter and Dwight Samuels, Leighton and Dwayne Smith, Dalton Spence, Dufton Shepherd and Mixing Lab. The show will be hosted By Pretty Boy Floyd, drink inclusive and lots of promotional giveaways.

Presentation is key

When asked why he decided to promote comedy shows, Gunter replied, "I am promoting my craft. Presentation is key in what you do and comedy shows are not being presented the way they are supposed to, except, for a few promoters, for example Ellis and Si Wi Yah Entertainment."

He also added, "Comedians are easier to work with and with the recent Noise Abatement Act, the show would not have been affected by the 2:00 o'clock turn-off.

Laughter is the best medicine, especially in, the present society we live in, which is plagued by violence."

He continued, "Let's take comedy very serious and promote the creative art which we used to express ourself every day and the world will be a much better place to live."
