The grounds of the Constant Spring Golf and Country Club in St Andrew were transformed into a fairy-tale like setting for the launch of Scotia DBG Investments last Friday night.

Guests were transported from the parking area in decorated golf carts, rechristened 'limos' for the occasion. Upon arrival, ushers helped them from the carts to the red carpet. Radio personality François St Juste 'interviewed' each arriving guest for what was dubbed 'SDBG TV'. The interviews were shown on large television screens in the main ballroom area.

One enormous air-conditioned tent surrounded by smaller versions, all beautifully decorated in red and white, created different spaces for mingling.

Very entertained

Champagne, wine, other beverages and and hors d'oeuvres were consumed as guests and staff mingled. The big moment came when St Juste asked everyone to enter what looked like a theatre. There, entertainment was provided by Judy Emmanuel, after which, Anya Schnoor, head of the new entity, standing on a raised platform, addressed the gathering and introduced the new management team. They sat below her, perched like statues on randomly arranged pedestals. Then it was Scotiabank president William 'Bill' Clarke's turn. He congratulated the team who had masterminded the deal to its grand finale.

Formalities now over, all converged on the dance floor and partied to the sounds of Renaissance Disco.
