Promoters and sound- system operators in western Jamaica will be required to play a new tune if they intend to survive in the entertainment business as the Area One Police High Command, with immediate effect, will enforce the Noise Abatement Act of 1997.

When renowned musician Robbie Lyn released his instrumental album, Making Notes, in early 2007, he was aware that the appetite for such albums was deficient in the society. However, Lyn has found reward for his efforts, as in late February he received the Reggae Academy Award for Best Instrumental Album.

Glory days - Flourgon 'Run Tings' in late '80s
Flourgon was one of the first dons of dancehall music. Born Michael May in Kingston, Flourgon began his career on the sound system circuit, performing with Stone Love, Small Axe, Rambo Mango and his own Sweet Love set. He often performed alongside his DJ sibling, Red Dragon, with whom he nurtured the careers of Buju Banton and Terry Ganzie.
