published: Sunday | March 30, 2008

SAVANETA, Aruba, CMC:

JAMAICA'S KENDESE Nangle was among six record breakers at the 2008 CARIFTA Swimming Championship on Friday evening.

The French Antilles were the most prolific winners on the night, collecting eight gold medals, while ex-champions Trinidad and Tobago picked up seven and Jamaica six.

Second record of the meet

Jamaica's girls' 13-14 age-group star Nangle copped her second record of the meet and third gold when she won the 50-metre butterfly in 29.74 seconds. Nangle also won the 100 backstroke in 1:09.67.

Former champions Jamaica enjoyed an improved night with their six wins, compared to just two on Thursday.

In addition to Nangle's double, Breanna Roman took the 11-12 girls' 200 free in 2:18.06, Victoria Ho (2:13.17) won the 13-14 girls' 200 free, Stefani Webley (31.41) captured the 11-12 girls' 50m butterfly and the 13-14 girls' medley team of Nangle, Ho, Raynae Hall and Alexia Royal-Eatman won in 4:46.29.
