Earth matters - Prime Minister takes environment portfolio

Prime Minister Bruce Golding has taken charge of the environment portfolio in a move which seems to have caught some members of his party by surprise. The Office of the Prime Minister has also taken control of the National Meteorological Service with effect from April 1.

Government to develop St Joseph's into trauma centre

Claiming that it cannot expand the Kingston Public Hospital (KPH) building due to a lack of space, Government plans to purchase and develop St Joseph's Hospital - a private facility - into a modern trauma centre. St Joseph's Hospital is located in Vineyard Town, St Andrew.

The cells holding juveniles at the Montego Freeport Police Station in St James are overcrowded and parents are being blamed.

Minister of Justice and Attorney General Senator Dorothy Lightbourne is taking steps to abolish an 18th-century English common-law principle that says the Government is not responsible for injuries or damage caused from lack of maintenance of roadways.

Low fuel at Norman Manley Airport delays AA flight

It remains unclear if the Norman Manley International Airport ran out of JET-A fuel on Tuesday morning, causing an American Airlines flight destined for Miami, Florida, to reroute to the Sangster International Airport in Montego Bay for fuel.
