In a recent informal survey, Flair found that some macho Jamaican men think the simple act of moisturising their body is a sign of being metrosexual. These men who want to be seen as 'real' and 'rugged' wear the evidence of their 'masculinity' on their dry, ashy elbows, knees and fingers.
Keeping the skin moisturised is an important part of maintaining healthy skin. Moisturisers (lotion) help preserve your skin's natural moisture levels. They work by providing a seal over your skin, to keep water from escaping or by slowly releasing water into your skin.
For every skin care
If you have sensitive skin, look for products free of heavy dyes, perfumes, alcohol or other additives that can irritate some skin types or cause an allergic reaction. For dry skin, use an intense moisturiser like pure vitamin E or aloe vera oil. There are also medicated lotions, specifically formulated for specific skin types and conditions.
However, most men complain that lotions are too greasy and smell too girly. Vaseline Intensive Care lotion and Nivea Vitalising Body Lotion For Men have a very subtle scent, absorb quickly and are not sticky.
Other brands that have products designed specially for men are: Neutrogena, Clinique, L'Oréal and Mary Kay.
This is neither attractive nor a sign of being macho.
