Men's fashion DO'S AND DONT'S
published: Monday | February 25, 2008

Ryan Lodenquai is ready to walk to his first appointment. He chose electric-blue long-sleeved shirt with a complementary tie and dark navy cuffed pants and jacket. Black shoes complete the ensemble. Most men can't be bothered to put much thought or effort into dressing. And some honestly don't know. However, women appreciate and are very attracted to well-dressed men. Here are some pitfalls to avoid.

There is a time and place for mixing patterns, stripes and plaids but unless you are CNN's senior business correspondent, Ali Velshi, leave it alone! - Winston Sill/Freelance Photographer

Ideally, the socks you wear will depend on the occasion. At left, that foot is ready for sneakers while the others are more suitable for work and formal occasions. - Norman Grindley/Deputy Chief Photographer

Labels on sneakers, handbags, eyewear and especially the sleeves of your jacket are not a fashion statement. They are, in a word, tacky. Desist! - Ricardo Makyn/Staff Photographer

This also works for the office and the cuffs of your pants should kiss the heel of your shoes.- photo by Sacha Walters

Do wear your tie so that the tip kisses the buckle of your belt.
