Manchester were double winners over Knox College in recent action from the ISSA KFC Central Conference basketball competition.
In the junior league, Manchester defeated Knox College 43-34, thanks to a game-high 20 points from Kevin Swaby.
Manchester's seniors, led by 17 points from Roger Allen, defeated Knox 50-36.
Clarendon's juniors beat Edwin Allen 32-30. Jermaine Murray scored 15 points for the winners,.
In the senior contest, Edwin Allen came away 53-42 victors over Clarendon. Delano Russell netted 27 points for the winners.
Portmore cricket awards ceremony
The Portmore Metropolitan Cricket League, which ended two weeks ago, will hold its annual awards ceremony on Wednesday.
Ken's Wildflower Restaurant & Lounge, Port Henderson Road, Portmore, will be the venue for the function.
Ken's Wildflower became the fourth winners of the title after beating Portsmouth in the final played at the Bridgeport Sports Club.
Waterford and Belmont were the beaten semi-finalists.
Alpart victorious
Alpart edged hosts UTech 3-2 in a lone Division Three rescheduled table tennis match played on Wednesday at the UTech Auditorium as the JTTA/Northwest Development National Club League continued.
The victory took Alpart to second place in Group Three with eight points, behind runaway leaders JDF (15 points).
UTech (four) and Windalco Kirkvine Sports Club II (three) complete the standings for the group. JDF have one match left to play, Alpart have two remaining and UTech have three left to play. The top two teams at the end of the round will advance to the quarter-finals.
In individual action, Oliver Miller crushed Kamaal Rahimtula 3-0 (11-9, 11-7, 11-6) and Ernest Allen outscored Marlon Thompson 3-1 (11-5, 11-8, 7-11, 12-10) in singles matches; and Allen and Dervon Parchment trounced Thompson and Tyrone Gordon 3-0 (11-5, 11-9, 11-5) in doubles for Alpart's three triumphs.
Gordon tagged Dwight Griffiths 3-1 (15-13, 7-11, 11-4, 11-5) and Desmond Shallow overpowered Parchment 3-0 (11-6, 17-15, 11-6), for UTech's two consolation wins.
Portmore football league
Greater Portmore joined Portsmouth, Watson Grove and Daytona in the semi-finals of the Colin Fagan-sponsored Portmore Division Two football knockout competition following a 4-1 trouncing of Portmore Pines on Thursday.
A double strike from Oneil Clarke and a goal apiece from Davane Patterson and sweeper Kavan Gillespie complete the rout for Greater Portmore.
It was back-to-back wins for Greater Portmore as they booted Caymanas Gardens 1-0 on their home field on Sunday, while Portsmouth advanced to the semis with a 2-1 win over Caymanas Gardens Site D.
The semi-final pairings pit Watson Grove against Greater Portmore and Portsmouth versus Daytona in March.
RBTT chess challenge
The second phase of the 2007/2008 RBTT National Schools Chess Championships will get underway at the RBTT head office in New Kingston today.
The eight schools that placed second and third in their respective zones in the Corporate Area preliminaries last year will attempt to secure berths in the quarter-finals in two weeks.
The teams will be competing in a three-round Swiss play-off which starts at 9:00 a.m.
The top four teams from the play-off will advance to the quarter-finals where they will face the four teams that placed first in each of the four Corporate Area zones.
Teams that have qualified for today's event include Calabar A and B, Campion College B, Wolmer's Boys A and B, Wolmer's Girls, Queen's and Charlie Smith.
While no team is a clear favourite, Wolmer's Boy's A boast the play-off's top player in Stuart James, while Queen's have the most balanced side.
Portmore domino league
Eradication, unbeaten in eight matches, defeated Masterpiece 300-259 in the Portmore/St. Catherine domino league last Sunday. Eradication have now won seven matches, while drawing the other. The team from Gregory Park leads the standings with 39 points, three clear of Eagle View and Fort International who are joint second with 36 points, followed by Old Harbour United with 33 points, Caribbean Classic 32, Right Stuff 31, and completing the top eight, defending champions Hurricane and Village Link with 30 points each.
The feature match in tomorrow's ninth round pits Fort International against Eagle View at Passagefort starting at 11:30 a.m. Last Sunday Eagle View defeated Marliemount 300-268, while Fort International got by Seamaster 300-271.
Federation Cup skittles
Lowly-placed Olympic Strikers pulled off a stunning upset over highly-fancied Rowe's Strikers in the return round of the Henkel-sponsored Pattex Federation Cup competition last Sunday, winning 6-5.
Olympic Strikers made full use of their home advantage, coming from 4-5 down to win the last two games in an exciting contest.
Another highly-fancied team, Eastern All-Stars, was also beaten last Sunday, going down 7-4 to home team Mystix at 78 3/4 Hagley Park Road. Portmore's Meadowvale moved into second place in the standings after crushing House of Peace 10-1 at Caymanas Gardens. The feature match between leaders Dragon and defending champions Cherry's Strikers had to be rescheduled owing to a defective table.
Lucozade to boost High Mountain 10K, 5K
The High Mountain Coffee Road Races have received a boost from one of their major sponsors, Lucozade Sports.
In addition to the usual tent that houses the runners, Lucozade Sports will be setting up a recovery zone for the event on January 27.
The area will provide Lucozade Sports rehydration fluid and give branded gifts to runners.
Jamaica's top long-distance trainer, Constantine Haughton, will also be on hand to give tips to participants before and after the race.
