WESTERN BUREAU:
Negril Impact, held at Long Bay Beach in Negril, Westmoreland dished out a musical feast on Saturday night and those in attendance were fed an array of stellar performances.
From the first set of performances, it was evident that the patrons were in for a good time as local acts Edge Michael, Timmy Burrell and Whisky Baggio rocked the house with performances that served as appetizer for the spread of music that was to come.
Then came the veteran Terry Linen calling on 'Jah Jah', while declaring that the Storm is Over, which saw him taking the crowd on a sing -a -long.
Man on a mission
However for Richie Stephens, the storm was just beginning as he entered the stage like a man on a mission, Winner, Crushed, Luther Vandross' and I'd Rather, are just some of the hits delivered by the songster.
Professor Nuts gave his usually comical and uproarious performance. There was no stopping the 'bad gal' Macka Diamond, who had her usual lecture with the ladies, advised them to Bun Him, even as she demonstrated the Hool a Hoop.
Freddie McGregor had the crowd's attention as he tore through his catalogue of hits such as, I Will Wait for You, Big Ship, Just Don't Want to be Lonely among others.
Strong voices
Little Hero ensured that the high standard of performances was maintained with another commanding set. The voice of the diminutive artiste belted out hits such as God Alone and No More War.
Then came 'the doctor', equipped with his lyrical prescriptions, Beenie Man treated his patients with doses of his numerous hits both old and new. Hmm Hmm, Dreaming Of You, Ol' Dog, Back It Up were just a few of the hits that brought the curtains down on a production that will certainly have patrons looking forward to next year's staging.
