The Editor, Sir:We live in a world where everything is fast becoming relative, a world of no absolutes and where each individual decides for himself/herself what truth is. Could it be that because we have lost our identity and purpose, we have become a restless and law-breaking society?
If we begin to train the young minds about the evolution theory, we will be educating the mind that nothing is absolute, that there is always a
'Why have we stopped evolving?'
Evolution teaches that random materials came together over thousands of years and formed complex organisms such as humans. If this is true, why have we stopped evolving? Creationism teaches that a loving and personal God created this world. To teach evolution in our schools is to show disregard for the Creator.
If we want to produce a moral society, we need to feed the young minds with the absolutes - that the God of heaven is the true Creator of heaven and earth. Give the youth the knowledge of their origin and purpose and that knowledge is present only in the Creation Story.
Analyse this quotation from the book A Philosophy of Science and Life by Dr. Cleveland James Thomas: "We all want to know the answer to the question, how did we get here and what is our purpose here? Our origin is important because it affects our attitude about ourselves and towards the world in which we live. If we believe that we are the meaningless result of impersonal natural laws, then our lives will lack meaning ... If we are the product of the survival of the fittest, then why not fight to survive? But if we are the creation of a wise and personal God, then there is meaning, purpose and responsibility."
I am, etc.,
