Spared again!
published: Wednesday | August 22, 2007

The Editor, Sir:

I must first thank and commend you all for the amazing job you are doing at the Gleaner company. My letter is in regards to the recent hurricane that hit Jamaica. Thank the Lord God Almighty one more time he has spared our beautiful island. It could have been worse and the loss of lives staggering.

But Mr. Editor, what is wrong with the people of Jamaica? Dem nuh fear God anymore? Look how people prayed and God held back his hand for the second time and instead of mankind getting better, they are worse. What more do they want God to do?

I am pleading with the people of Jamaica to please stop the violence, looting and shooting and go down on your knees and seek the face of God. Repent of your sins, ask God to forgive you for all the wrongs you have done and stand back and see how God moves in our homes and country.

People of Jamaica, it is the church that is keeping our island from complete destruction and devastation. The Bible states that righteousness exalteth a nation but sin is a reproach to any people.

Please, please, please brothers and sisters of Jamaica, please turn from your wicked ways. 'If my people who are called by my name shall humble themselves and pray and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven and heal their lands'.

I am, etc.,

BEVERLY BENBOW
